Regenerative Pain Medicine

Chronic pain isn't just uncomfortable — it's life-limiting. At Maple Ridge, we don't just manage pain. We work to find and treat the root cause so you can actually get your life back.

Dr. Hughes has spent his career researching and applying the most innovative, effective treatments for pain. Two of his core approaches are Neural Therapy and Neural Prolotherapy (NPT) — both targeting the nervous system's role in driving chronic pain.

Neural Therapy works by identifying and treating "interference fields" — areas in the body where past trauma, injury, or stress has disrupted the nervous system's normal function. Using precise injections of a local anesthetic, Neural Therapy resets these disrupted signals, restoring the body's ability to self-regulate and heal. It can have far-reaching effects throughout the body, often resolving pain and dysfunction in areas that seem unrelated to the original injury.

Neural Prolotherapy (NPT) is a breakthrough in natural pain relief, involving small injections just beneath the skin that target the small nerves responsible for chronic pain and inflammation. Developed by New Zealand physician Dr. John Lyftogt, NPT works by immediately blocking the nerve's pain receptor — delivering relief within seconds, with no anesthetic or cortisone required. Dr. Hughes has trained extensively with Dr. Lyftogt, including completing Masters Level training in New Zealand.

Together, these therapies address pain at multiple levels — from the surface nerves to the deeper regulatory systems of the body — offering patients a truly comprehensive path to recovery.

NPT can help with fibromyalgia, headaches, migraines, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, back, hip, knee, foot and ankle pain — as well as tendinitis, arthritis, bursitis, sciatica, and muscle and ligament injuries.
